OAP Dotun Defends Adekunle Gold Against Backlash Over Simi's Old Tweets

On-Air Personality Dotun has expressed his discontent towards Nigerians who have relentlessly criticized singer Adekunle Gold in the wake of controversial tweets made by his wife, Simi, years ago.

Earlier this year, in February, Simi found herself in the spotlight again as her old tweets resurfaced online, which covered topics about younger boys. In one of these tweets, a 23-year-old Simi, employed at her mother’s daycare, recounted an experience where a four-year-old boy attempted to kiss her. She also mentioned in another tweet that a 16-year-old boy could make her legs feel weak. These tweets led many Nigerians to accuse her of sexualizing young boys and spurred calls for her to be prosecuted. In response, Simi defended her tweets, asserting that they were innocent and devoid of any malicious intent.

Despite her explanations, some shocked Nigerians have continued to criticize both her and Adekunle. Dotun has come out to argue that those angered by Simi's past remarks should direct their frustrations at her instead of targeting Adekunle, who was not responsible for the original posts shared on social media.
