Pastor Chukwuemeka Odumeje, known for his controversial stance, delivered encouraging remarks to singer Davido after the latter's loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The Grammy ceremony took place in Los Angeles, USA, on February 1, where South African artist Tyla was awarded the Best African Music Performance, leaving behind prominent Nigerian artists such as Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.
Many fans expressed their disappointment at Davido not winning the coveted award, showcasing widespread support for the artist.
In response to this development, Odumeje addressed his congregation and praised Davido as a “generational award,” asserting that the singer's accomplishments transcend mere formal recognition.
He remarked, “There is one of our brothers that I admire greatly; a remarkable musician named Davido. You are already a generational award winner, having received numerous honors. Any awards you may receive now hold little significance—your existence serves as an award; your journey is an achievement.”
Odumeje encouraged Davido not to feel disheartened by the loss, urging him to continue creating music that inspires and astonishes listeners.
He added, “Do not let an ordinary person dampen your spirit. Go forth and find new sources of inspiration to shock the world with your next piece. Be cautious in your choices. You have reached the pinnacle of success; the world will recognize your talent. Do not allow others to diminish your passion or stunt your creativity.”
Despite this setback, Odumeje emphasized that Davido's legacy and impact remain unparalleled in the music scene, motivating him to keep shining on the global stage.
