Ogun Police Nab 27-Year-Old Suspect in Motorcyclist's Death

Authorities in Ogun State have apprehended a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa. The incident occurred when the suspect allegedly attempted to steal the victim's motorcycle.

Detectives from the Igbesa Division of the Ogun State Police Command have taken into custody a 27-year-old individual named Chidi Ebere, accused of the killing of a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa, Ogun State.

Reports indicate that on the morning of April 8, around 7 am, the suspect reportedly hired the motorcycle from the victim, identified as Sunday Ogbu, aged 36. During the trip, Ebere allegedly attacked Ogbu in an attempt to dispossess him of the motorcycle. The ensuing struggle led to the victim sustaining critical injuries.

A witness present at the scene raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from the police. The victim was rushed to a hospital for immediate medical treatment, but a doctor on duty pronounced him dead upon arrival.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and the motorcycle, along with the knife believed to be used in the assault, were secured as evidence. The case file has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has condemned the alleged act and assured the public that justice will be pursued rigorously. He also urged residents to maintain heightened vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
