Ogun State Police Apprehend Woman Over Alleged Hot Water Attack on Niece

The Ogun State Police Command has taken a 45-year-old woman, identified as Adeoye Taiwo, into custody. She is accused of causing serious harm to her 13-year-old niece, Adeoye Modinat, in the Ijebu Imusin area of the state. The incident is reported to have occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 13th at a residence on Odomogun Street.

According to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, the police were alerted to the alleged assault.

Detectives attached to the Ijebu Imusin division were dispatched to the scene immediately after the report was filed. Preliminary findings by the police indicate that the suspect, Taiwo, allegedly poured hot water on the victim, Modinat, who lives with her. This action allegedly resulted in significant burns to various parts of the child's body.

Upon arrival, the police team successfully rescued the young girl. She was promptly taken to a medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.

The suspect has been apprehended and is currently being held at the police station, where she is undergoing interrogation. The police have stated that she will face charges in court once the investigation is completed.

The Ogun State Police Command has strongly condemned all forms of violence and abuse against children. The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable individuals within the society.
