A tragic incident unfolded at an Olive Garden restaurant in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where a cook tragically lost his life after submerging his head into a scorching hot deep fryer, despite the desperate efforts of his coworkers to save him.

The employee, who remains unnamed, reportedly undressed and deliberately placed his face inside the fryer during his shift last Friday afternoon, January 30, according to reports from the Smoking Gun.

In a chilling response to a 911 call, dispatchers indicated that a male victim had been found headfirst in the fryers. One operator mentioned, "I don’t have a lot of details, a lot of people screaming, some kind of a burn victim."

Emergency services quickly transported the cook to a local hospital to address his extensive burns, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later, as confirmed by officials.

During the incident, a female employee sustained minor burns while attempting to prevent further harm to her colleague. Additionally, at least one patron tried to intervene in the situation.

Both the Olive Garden management and law enforcement have chosen not to disclose specific details about the tragic event, simply labeling it as a “suicide attempt.”

In the aftermath of the incident, the restaurant temporarily closed its doors for several days but has since resumed regular operations.
