Veteran Nollywood star Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has openly expressed her views on the rising expectation for actors to engage in dancing on social media as a means of film promotion.
In a recent interview, she clarified that although she enjoys dancing, she is not inclined to do so as a marketing strategy.
According to Omotola, the core issue lies not in dancing itself but in the underlying reasons for it. She indicated that dancing should stem from genuine enjoyment rather than becoming a mandatory requirement for promoting a movie. When it devolves into a chore, she believes it undermines the professionalism in the industry.
Omotola emphasized that her primary role is to act and engage with the audience through interviews and discussions, while the responsibilities for marketing and distribution should be entrusted to specialists in the field.
"I have already contributed to the project," she noted, questioning the practice of compelling creatives to perform additional acts just for visibility, stating this should not be how the industry operates.
