A community in Kaduna State's Chikun Local Government Area has been subjected to an attack by armed individuals, leading to the death of one person and the kidnapping of seven others. The community of Sabon Gyero, situated within Millennium City, experienced the incident in the early hours of Monday, March 16, 2026.
The assailants reportedly targeted a residence, where they took three women and four children captive. In a separate incident within the same area, the attackers raided a mobile phone charging station. During this raid, a young man identified as Abdullahi Lawal, known locally as “Kurma,” was shot and killed.
Reports indicate that the perpetrators also absconded with numerous mobile phones and laptops from the charging centre. Abdullahi Lawal, who was deaf- mute, sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Despite being transported to a medical facility, he passed away before receiving treatment.
Uwaisu Yunusa, the Commandant of the local Joint Task Force (JTF), confirmed the event to reporters, stating that the task force responded to the gunshots. However, their efforts to pursue the fleeing criminals were unsuccessful.
It has also been reported that one of the abducted women was later released by her captors due to health-related issues.
