Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asserted that the party is not currently holding any state or council elections.
In a recent statement, Turaki emphasized, "We hereby inform our members and the public that our party is not carrying out congresses anywhere across the nation."
He further stated, "The misinformation is being propagated by expelled members of our organization, who have noticeably aligned themselves with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to undermine our party and jeopardize our democracy."
According to the PDP's national chairman, "This type of misinformation and unlawful affiliations are part of a strategy employed by individuals who have compromised the future of our party in exchange for political posts and favours from the APC."
He reiterated, "We cannot yield our party to those who seek to manipulate it for negotiations with the ruling party, akin to what transpired during the recently concluded FCT Area Council Elections."
Turaki added, "Such behaviour is clearly contrary to the principles of a multiparty democracy, which is crucial for a diverse and pluralistic society like ours."
He called on all party members and the public to dismiss claims regarding planned congresses in any states. The party is currently engaged in a digital membership registration process, which is reportedly progressing smoothly.
Turaki concluded by assuring party members that they would be kept informed about developments related to emerging political realities.
