Police Detain Two Suspects in Abduction of Job Applicant in Plateau State

Officers from the Plateau State Police Command have taken into custody two individuals in relation to the kidnapping and robbery of a potential police recruit.

The event took place on February 26, 2026, as the victim was on his way back to the Qua’anpan Local Government Area following a recruitment screening.

According to police reports, the attackers stole a Samsung Galaxy phone, a power bank, and N25,000 from the victim before abducting him to a secluded area in Gada Biu, where he was held briefly before being released.

While presenting the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, Bassy Ewan, named them as 25-year-old Prince Bernard Bassey and Sunday Laraba.

“After receiving the report, we instructed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to respond swiftly, and they were able to arrest the suspects on the same day,” he stated. Items recovered from the apprehended individuals included hard drugs, sharp instruments, and multiple SIM cards.

The suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
