During his visit, President Tinubu strongly condemned the violence. He offered particular commiseration to Ms. Rhoda, a mother who became widely known through a viral video where she was seen holding her son, Ayuba, who had been killed in the attack.

Addressing Ms. Rhoda, the President acknowledged her profound grief and offered prayers for divine comfort, stating, "I pray that this experience will not repeat itself again. Favour Rhoda, I know the pain. I saw how on the video you held on to Ayuba and the pain and agony in your heart. It is only God, only God who can give you joy and comfort. No amount of money can pay all of you back. Yes, as God we will try our best to comfort and work with you."

A video recording of the President's remarks has been made available.
