The Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a remarkable revenue generation of N44.06 billion in January 2026.
This achievement underscores the Command's steadfast commitment to promoting trade while adhering to customs laws.
Additionally, the PTML Customs Command has made notable progress in its anti- smuggling initiatives.
The Command successfully intercepted a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, which has since been submitted to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW).
The confiscated items include one Crossman Pump Master rifle, 132 live cartridges from Remington, 51 rounds of 9mm Luger ammunition, four 9mm magazines, 40 rounds of various 9mm and blank/hollow ammunition, alongside 118 empty 9mm shells.
During the handover ceremony held on January 30, 2026, Comptroller Joe Anani, the Customs Area Controller, emphasized that this operation reflects the agency's zero-tolerance policy towards smuggling, reinforcing its commitment to safeguard legitimate trade across Nigeria.
Comptroller Anani highlighted that the handover was conducted with the approval of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who oversaw the seizures.
The PTML Command disclosed that these arms and ammunition were discovered during inspections of imported vehicles across 25 different occasions from 2022 to 2025. Anani described these successful seizures as the result of ongoing vigilance and collaboration with other security agencies operating at the port.
He reiterated that the PTML Command is strictly a prohibited zone for illegal trade in all its forms and affirmed its strong dedication to the enforcement of the Revised Kyoto Convention, a World Customs Organization instrument focused on harmonizing trade facilitation and effective regulatory oversight.
Comptroller Anani also pointed out the positive outcomes stemming from the Nigeria Customs Service Modernization Project, noting that the integration of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), referred to as B’Odogwu, has significantly improved operational efficiency at the Command.
