Shocking images depicting a young girl struggling to hold two heavy stones aloft have ignited outrage online after being shared across social media platforms.
This distressing event took place in Makurdi, Benue State.
Activist Zege Orkwande posted the images on Facebook on March 31, 2026, revealing that the girl was allegedly made to endure this punishment from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM for reasons that remain unclear.
Orkwande expressed his dismay, questioning the justification for subjecting a child to such treatment. He stated, "Is it normal to torment a child like this? To take a child from impoverished parents to your home, only to enforce this form of punishment?"
He continued to condemn the incident, labeling it as torture and asserting that the girl was reportedly punished by carrying the stones for three hours.
"The woman responsible will face repercussions for her actions. If you find it difficult to manage a child, you should return them to their parents," he added.
The harshness of the incident raises significant concerns regarding child welfare and parental rights.
Numerous images accompany the account, illustrating the severity of the punishment inflicted upon the young girl, which has drawn condemnation from various quarters in society.
