On the occasion of Quds Day, Iran has called for justice and enduring peace for Palestinians. This day is marked globally on the last Friday of Ramadan.

The appeal was made by Mahdavi Raja, Iran's Ambassador to Nigeria, during a gathering in Abuja hosted by the Iranian embassy alongside the Al-Huda Foundation.

Ambassador Raja conveyed condolences for the loss of Iranian lives, including those of military personnel and civilians, due to what he termed recent aggressive actions against Iran. He commended their sacrifice in the name of the country's independence, dignity, and security.

In his remarks about the significance of Quds Day, Raja emphasized that the event serves as a reminder for the global community to recognize the need for justice and support for Palestinians.

He noted that the longstanding Palestinian issue has remained unresolved for decades, largely due to occupation, violence, and ongoing humanitarian difficulties.

Raja pointed out that the situations in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem expose the broader humanitarian impacts of the conflict.

He framed Quds Day as an opportunity for the international community to reaffirm its dedication to justice, human rights, and peaceful resolutions of conflicts, asserting, “The Palestinian people should determine their own future and live freely, with dignity and security in their homeland.”

The ambassador further asserted Iran's commitment to regional stability rooted in cooperation, mutual respect, and the principle of not interfering in the internal affairs of other nations. He added that every nation possesses the right, under international law, to safeguard its sovereignty and defend its citizens against aggressions.

Additionally, public policy expert Ebenezer Oyetakin urged nations and individuals to continuously advocate against injustice and to support humanitarian initiatives. He referenced the legacy of Nelson Mandela, who, despite initially being labeled a terrorist, gained global reverence for ending apartheid.

Oyetakin encouraged individuals to mobilize and amplify their voices for justice and the dignity of humanity.

Mohammad Zubair, chairman of the Al-Huda Foundation, reiterated the importance of unity among diverse faiths and backgrounds in the pursuit of peace, justice, and human rights. He stressed that continuous global dialogue and engagement are crucial for achieving a fair and lasting resolution to the conflict.
