Three Nigerian girls, who were trafficked to Mali, have been successfully rescued and returned to their home country.
The victims, named Linda, Bella, and Joy, were rescued on March 25, 2026, by the anti-human trafficking organization known as GAHTO, in partnership with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
According to a statement released by the organization on Sunday, March 28, the girls have safely arrived back in Nigeria and have been reunited with their families.
"The three victims of human trafficking (Linda, Joy, and Bella) rescued by GAHTO a few days ago from Mali have arrived safely. They expressed their joy at regaining their freedom and have been reunited with their families as the NAPTIP Lagos Zonal Command continues its investigation," the statement indicated.
The organization raised concerns about the alarming trend of young girls falling victim to human trafficking, urging parents to remain vigilant. "The increasing rate at which our young girls are becoming victims of trafficking is alarming. Parents are strongly urged to monitor their children closely. No girl should be subjected to trafficking for sexual exploitation," the organization warned.
