Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, attended the funeral prayer for Malam Nasir El-Rufai's mother, demonstrating a momentary set aside of their political differences on Sunday.
According to reports from Daily Trust, the Janazah Prayer was conducted at the National Mosque in Abuja, followed by the burial at Gudu Cemetery in the same city.
Notable attendees included Ribadu, who was seen alongside former Vice- President Atiku Abubakar during the prayer service.
Ribadu and El-Rufai were once strong allies; however, their relationship changed significantly following El-Rufai's exclusion from President Bola Tinubu's cabinet.
The rift was exacerbated when El-Rufai accused someone of having tapped Ribadu's phone, allegedly revealing that Ribadu ordered for the former governor's arrest.
In a further show of discord, El-Rufai sent Ribadu a letter requesting an explanation regarding the supposed importation of a poisonous substance.
Ribadu, refuting the accusations, subsequently filed a petition with the Department of State Services (DSS).
As a result, the DSS initiated criminal charges against El-Rufai.
Nevertheless, after the announcement of El-Rufai's mother’s passing, Ribadu reached out with a condolence message, fondly acknowledging the impact that the late matriarch of the El-Rufai family had on his life.
