Road Accident in Adamawa Results in One Fatality and 18 Injuries

A tragic road accident in Adamawa State has resulted in the death of one individual and left 18 others injured. The incident involved a Toyota Hummer bus on the Yola–Kano highway.

One individual has been reported dead, and 18 others have sustained various degrees of injuries following a vehicular accident with a Toyota Hummer bus in Adamawa State.

The collision took place on the Yola–Kano highway and involved the Toyota Hummer bus, which had the registration number BLD 471 XL. The bus was transporting 19 passengers, including the driver, comprised of 14 men and five women.

Assistance Corps Commander Idi Timothy, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Numan, confirmed that the deceased was a passenger from the Republic of Cameroon, who succumbed to injuries resulting from the crash.

Timothy further indicated that the 18 individuals who survived the accident were promptly rescued and conveyed to the General Hospital in Numan, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

Initial investigations have indicated that speeding was a significant contributing factor to the accident.

Timothy has urged drivers to refrain from excessive speeding and to adhere strictly to traffic laws and guidelines to avoid preventable crashes that can lead to loss of lives and property.

Additionally, he mentioned that N40,000 and 300,000 CFA francs, which belonged to the deceased, were recovered at the accident site and subsequently handed over to his family. The deceased's body was also returned to the relatives for burial.

A brother of the deceased, Abdulrazak Bilyaminu, verified the death while receiving the retrieved funds.

The FRSC reiterated its dedication to enhancing road safety and advised all road users to remain vigilant at all times.
