A Russian tycoon who previously described convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell as his 'soulmate' was found dead in his upscale Moscow residence on March 2. This discovery came just weeks after his name appeared in the Jeffrey Epstein case files.

According to reports from the Russian media outlet Kommersant, Umar Dzhabrailov, a businessman from Chechnya and former senator, was found lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head around 3 a.m. The police have classified his death as a suspected suicide.

A Luger handgun was reportedly located beside the body of the 67-year-old entrepreneur. Notably, Dzhabrailov, who had attempted suicide back in 2020, did not leave a note, as per the police findings.

This tragic incident follows Dzhabrailov’s inclusion among the Russians mentioned in a recent document release by the Justice Department concerning Epstein. Correspondence has revealed attempts by him to arrange a meeting with Maxwell in Moscow in 2001.

In one particular email dated May 24, he wrote, "Dear Ghislaine, I'm back from London, planning to be in Moscow. I really want to see you, but I need to know exactly when you arrive because I want to take care of you and arrange welcoming things. Wishing you all the best! Umar."

Maxwell's reply came the next day, stating: "Umar, sorry that we did not come last week. I got sidetracked and ended up in France. However, Jeffrey, Tom, and I are coming next week, arriving Friday. Will you be around and can we get together? Let me know. Hope you are well. Ghislaine."

Details concerning the depth of their relationship or how they first connected are not fully clarified. Nonetheless, Dzhabrailov had addressed his close ties to Maxwell after her conviction for aiding Epstein's sexual exploitation of minors, according to East 2 West news agency.

He remarked, "I knew Epstein. I was introduced to him by Ghislaine Maxwell, a soulmate of mine. But I never could have imagined that they were partners, that she was involved in finding those girls who are now all over the media. I regret that Ghislaine, the most charming woman, received a life sentence."

Originally from Chechnya, Dzhabrailov once owned the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel and Business Center in Moscow and led a company handling Russian retail centers.
