Security Forces Detain Suspected ISWAP Collaborator in Adamawa

Joint Task Force troops, alongside Civilian Hunters and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have apprehended a suspected informant for ISWAP and Boko Haram in Adamawa. The suspect, Abdullahi Umar, was arrested following intelligence on ISWAP activities in the area.

Troops from the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation HADIN KAI, together with Civilian Hunters and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, have taken into custody a suspected informant linked with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in Gombi, Adamawa State.

The arrested individual, identified as Abdullahi Umar, a 25-year-old resident of Gwoza, was detained on Monday, March 23, 2026, following reliable intelligence that indicated the presence of ISWAP operatives in the vicinity of the 232 Battalion Tactical Area of Responsibility.

Initial investigations have shown that Umar was assigned to surveil roads leading to the general area of the 232 Battalion and its military facilities, aiming to detect potential entry points for future hostile actions.

Additionally, the suspect reportedly confessed to having participated in a recent assault on military personnel in Ngoshe.
