Six Family Members Kidnapped in Adamawa by Suspected Terrorists

Gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram group have kidnapped six individuals from a family in Gare Village, located in the Pallam District of Madagali Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

The abduction took place during the early hours of Monday, January 26, 2026.

Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that authorities are currently conducting extensive efforts to rescue the victims.

He noted that a collaborative mission involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops from the 144 Battalion, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been initiated in Gare Village and its neighboring areas.

A police statement elaborated, “The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected criminals, resulting in the abduction of six family members and the theft of livestock.”

“In response to the report, the Command swiftly enhanced its collaboration and dispatched additional personnel and operational resources to the site of the incident and nearby communities,” the statement continued.

The Commissioner of Police for the Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, has called for ongoing search-and-rescue operations, increased patrols, and a fortified security presence in Madagali and the surrounding border regions to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and to mitigate any further risks.

He emphasized, “The Command, alongside the Nigerian Army and other allied security agencies, remains committed to safeguarding lives and properties throughout the State. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”
