Six students from the Federal University Lokoja have been taken into custody by the Kogi State Police Command in connection with the alleged bullying and assault of a fellow student, identified as Oladosu Sunday. The incident reportedly stemmed from accusations of homosexuality made against the victim.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the arrested individuals are Inajo Henry, Nzekwe Victor, Lucky Victor, Lucky Gambo, Paul David, and a 17-year-old minor. They face charges including criminal force, defamation, assault, and cyberstalking.

The police detailed that on March 29, 2026, the suspects allegedly lured the victim to their residence near the Living Faith Church in Felele, Lokoja. It is reported that the victim was then held captive, stripped of his clothes, and subjected to physical assault.

Afusat further stated that the assault was recorded and subsequently shared online, where it gained traction within the university community. During questioning, the suspects reportedly confessed that their actions were pre- planned and based solely on unsubstantiated assumptions.

The police confirmed the completion of their investigation and that the accused have been presented before the appropriate court.

The command strongly denounced acts of vigilantism and cyberbullying, issuing a stern warning that such behaviors will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Members of the public, particularly students, were urged to pursue legal avenues for dispute resolution instead of resorting to self-help.

Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reiterated the command's dedication to safeguarding lives and ensuring the rights and dignity of all citizens are upheld.
