A narrative shared on the social media platform X has captured widespread attention, detailing an alleged attempt by a woman to falsify her pregnancy scan results. According to the initial post, a sonographer identified the woman as being eight weeks pregnant.
The woman reportedly implored the sonographer to change the gestation period to four or five weeks, stating that the pregnancy was not her husband's and she needed the report to reflect a different timeline. The sonographer declined this request.
However, the woman is said to have returned the following day, claiming that another laboratory had agreed to provide a doctored report. This account has since generated numerous reactions online.
Adding to the discussion, another X user shared a personal anecdote, suggesting that misunderstandings surrounding pregnancy dating are quite common. This user recounted advising a woman who was concerned that her pregnancy was not her husband's because she was informed she was six weeks pregnant, despite having been intimate with her husband only four weeks prior.
The user then clarified the standard medical practice of calculating pregnancy from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP), rather than the precise moment of conception. This explanation reportedly led the woman to realise that the calculated timeline did, in fact, align with her husband's involvement.
