Bellarmine Chatunga, the son of Robert Mugabe, the former President of Zimbabwe, has been apprehended in Johannesburg after allegedly shooting a gardener at his residence in Hyde Park.
The incident reportedly took place at Chatunga's luxurious home in the Hyde Park neighborhood, where a dispute erupted between him and the gardener who worked on the property.
During the altercation, the gardener was shot and is currently in critical health, receiving medical treatment.
Authorities responded promptly and arrested Chatunga in connection with the shooting incident. Reports also indicate that another individual has been detained.
Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, spokesperson for the Gauteng Provincial police, mentioned that the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting has not yet been located; however, a cartridge has been discovered at the site as the inquiry continues.
"The details surrounding the shooting at this point are still somewhat unclear. Our police units are on-site conducting initial investigations, and our dog unit is also searching the premises for the gun that is said to have been used to shoot the victim,” stated Nevhuhulwi.
"Currently, we have two individuals in custody, aged 33 and 24, who will be questioned to ascertain the circumstances leading to the shooting."
"We have obtained a cartridge, which will be integral to our investigation," Nevhuhulwi added.
