Authorities in South Africa are looking into a case of murder and suicide following an incident where a man allegedly shot his wife and subsequently took his own life.

This tragic event occurred on February 8, 2026, in the vicinity of Twin City Mall, located in Burgersfort, Limpopo.

Law enforcement officials responded to reports of a shooting around 1:54 PM on Dirk Winterbach Street, adjacent to the mall.

Preliminary findings indicate that the firearms and ammunition belonged to the shooter. Authorities are currently working to uncover how the suspect obtained the weapons. The blue Audi used in the crime has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

The victims have been named as Jerry Gumede and Thobile Gumede, the couple at the center of this tragic event.
