Supporters of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have put forward a proposal for a collaborative presidential ticket that would see Peter Obi paired with Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During a press conference in Kano on Friday, Abba Sadauki Gwale, representing the support groups, expressed that the proposal embodies the intention of Kwankwaso's supporters to align with a coalition that possesses the potential to revitalize Nigeria amid its present adversities.

Gwale highlighted that the Obi–Kwankwaso ticket could be established through various political platforms, emphasizing a significant transformation in public feelings towards leadership.

"Should this duo be given the opportunity in the forthcoming election, Nigeria will undoubtedly become a better nation. We are weary of insecurity and the crisis of hunger and starvation," he stated.

He explained that the suggested alliance aims to merge Obi's substantial support in the South with Kwankwaso's solid base in the North, hoping to forge a national coalition capable of confronting the current ruling party.

Gwale reiterated that both Obi and Kwankwaso have consistently promoted policies aimed at enhancing the lives of everyday Nigerians, underlining that their message of hope and reform resonates well with the populace.

As the 2027 elections loom, he expressed anticipation for the Obi–Kwankwaso alliance and its potential to convert this incumbent support into actual votes.

Addressing rumors of Kwankwaso potentially joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gwale rejected these claims, deeming them unfounded and clarifying that Kwankwaso’s decisions are primarily influenced by the interests of his supporters nationwide.

He also affirmed that Kwankwaso maintains a robust grassroots following in Kano and beyond, despite shifts in the state's political landscape.
