Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, declared on Friday that the nation has delivered a "dizzying blow" to its opponents amidst the continuing hostilities involving the United States and Israel, coinciding with a series of recent explosions in Tehran marking the Persian New Year.
In his Nowruz message, Khamenei emphasized that Iran's solidarity has diminished the strength of its adversaries.
"Iranians have inflicted such a staggering blow to the enemy that he now speaks in contradictions and nonsense," he remarked.
He noted that despite existing differences in religion, culture, and politics, the unity of the nation has been crucial in countering external threats.
Since succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei, who lost his life due to Israeli airstrikes that initiated the conflict on February 28, Khamenei has not made any public appearances.
This statement came as multiple explosions were reported throughout Tehran, especially in the eastern and northern regions, during the traditionally festive Nowruz period.
In parallel, tensions heightened in Jerusalem where Israeli officials reported that missile remnants caused an explosion in the Old City, close to important religious sites, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Western Wall, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Israel has accused Iran of attacking these sacred locations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that the war might conclude sooner than anticipated, claiming that Iran is "being decimated," although he cautioned that a ground assault could still be necessary.
The ongoing conflict has severely impacted global energy markets, particularly after Iran effectively obstructed the Strait of Hormuz, a vital transit route for oil and gas shipments.
Drone and missile attacks have also targeted major energy facilities across the Gulf region, including refineries in Kuwait and gas assets in Qatar, raising concerns about potential long-term economic consequences.
US President Donald Trump criticized allied nations for not supporting efforts to reopen the strait, labeling them as “cowards” and warning that their actions would be remembered.
International powers, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan, have voiced a willingness to assist in securing the route, yet no concrete strategies have been unveiled so far.
This ongoing war has led to substantial increases in energy prices, with analysts warning that sustained damage to infrastructure could trigger a wider global economic crisis.
Additionally, the conflict has expanded to Lebanon, where persistent Israeli airstrikes have resulted in a reported death toll exceeding 1,000, according to local officials.
