The government of Taraba State has recently alerted the public about the activities of a suspected fraudster who is posing as a government official to deceive and extort money from unwitting citizens.

In a public notice issued over the weekend, officials cautioned residents about an individual known as "Yeriman Kente," who is purportedly claiming to be a Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Agbu Kefas.

The announcement stated that this impersonator has been deceitfully soliciting funds from community members on the pretext of helping them secure positions within the Taraba State Civil Service, particularly for the role of Permanent Secretary.

The government categorically denied any connection to this individual, emphasizing that he is neither recognized nor permitted by Governor Kefas or any governmental office within the state.

Furthermore, the statement clarified that appointments in the state civil service cannot be obtained through payments, influence, or intermediary services.

In the disclaimer, it was revealed that the suspect reportedly operates using the phone numbers 08134543621 and 08086776306, in addition to using OPay accounts numbered 8134543621 and 7057225275, registered under the name Yerima Haruna.

"Despite multiple prior warnings directed at the public, the government pointed out that this individual has not ceased his alleged fraudulent activities," the statement indicated.

Residents were urged to ignore and avoid any engagement or transactions with this suspect, as well as to promptly report any related contacts or transactions involving the provided phone numbers or bank accounts to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

The statement, which was signed by Josiah Sabo Kente, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and Special Duties, also highlighted that no one is authorized to use his name, office, or position to solicit money or defraud citizens.
