A married woman was allegedly involved in a brutal attack on a 17-year-old girl in Taraba State, where she slashed the teenager's face with both a knife and a razor blade. This incident reportedly occurred after the woman's husband was said to have attempted to sexually assault the girl.
Human rights activist Elder Sughnem Yaaya shared details on Facebook on January 21, 2026, after hearing from the victim's sister. According to the account they relayed, the girl, who resides with her aunt in Taraba State, indicated that their married neighbour had been making unwelcome romantic advances towards her, all of which she consistently rejected.
Three days prior to this violent incident, the teenager was sent on an errand to purchase items from the neighbour's shop. Unaware that the man was alone at home, she entered when he invited her inside.
Once inside, the man locked the door, claiming he would finally obtain what he wanted. “He pressed his hand over her mouth, but she managed to bite it, which caused him to release his grip. When she began to scream, his wife suddenly appeared. Without seeking clarification, she immediately lunged at my sister and bit her. The husband intervened, allowing my sister to escape,” the account from the victim’s sister explained.
“My sister returned home and informed my aunt about the incident, leading to a confrontation between them. They believed the situation had been resolved at that point.
The next day, noticing that no one was at home, the assailant broke into my aunt's house and attacked my sister with a knife and razor blade.
“She inflicted a deep cut on my sister’s neck and severely damaged her face, leaving her with numerous knife wounds. She is currently hospitalized,” the sister reported.
Additionally, several images accompanying the report depicted the brutality of the attack, including the injuries sustained by the young victim.
