A primary school teacher and his wife lost their lives in a disturbing late- night assault by gunmen suspected to be herders in the Asase Ugbede area of Naka in Gwer West Local Government Area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers made their entrance into the community around 8:30 PM on the evening of February 17, 2026, utilizing a bush path that connects Tse Adagba with Tse Ankpev Road. Residents reported hearing gunfire, which prompted many to flee in panic.

The victims have been identified as Christopher Mule, who was a teacher from the Mbabwande Council Ward, and his spouse.

Further details report that Mule’s second wife was injured during the incident and is currently receiving medical attention. Other residents who sustained injuries have since been discharged from the hospital.

Local reports mention that the attack took place approximately 150 meters from a military checkpoint, with soldiers supposedly intervening to avert additional casualties.

As of now, the authorities have not confirmed the identities of the attackers or clarified their motives. The community is on heightened alert as investigations into this tragic incident continue.
