Ghanaian international and former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has formally denied two fresh allegations of rape. The 32-year-old appeared before Southwark Crown Court to enter his plea regarding these new charges.
Partey is currently facing trial for earlier accusations, which include two counts of rape and one of sexual assault against two other women. These initial charges stemmed from an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
In February, two new rape charges emerged, concerning an alleged incident in December 2020. The prosecution indicated that the complainant came forward after news of Partey's prior legal matters became public.
Partey's legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that her client continues to deny all accusations made against him. She added that he has fully cooperated with the police investigation and that no further comments would be made due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
These latest charges involve a fourth alleged victim. The footballer previously pleaded not guilty to the earlier five charges, which relate to incidents in 2021 and 2022. His trial for these matters is scheduled to commence in November at Southwark Crown Court.
The midfielder, who is now with Spanish club Villarreal, transferred to Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for approximately £45 million. He departed Arsenal in June of the previous year upon the expiration of his contract. During his five seasons with Arsenal, Partey made 167 appearances and has since become a regular player for Villarreal.
