Three Arrested by EFCC over Alleged Naira Mutilation in Maiduguri

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained three suspects in Maiduguri for allegedly mutilating local currency. Their arrest follows the circulation of a video showing them misusing a 500 Naira note.

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended three individuals in connection with suspected Naira mutilation.

The suspects, identified as Adam Muhammad, Muhammad Muhammad, and Bashir Musa, were taken into custody after a video surfaced on social media, depicting them using a 500 Naira note to wipe mucus from their noses.

Following the video's circulation, the agency was able to trace and apprehend the trio within the Maiduguri metropolis.

Currently, the suspects are under investigation at the Maiduguri detention facility as inquiries continue.

The EFCC has stated that the individuals will face court charges once investigations are completed.
