Local emergency services, including the Civil Defence and the Ambulance Authority, provided care to the injured passengers. According to reports, the boat capsized approximately 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port in Muscat.

Witnesses shared images on social media showing the overturned vessel floating in the water. As per the Oman Daily Observer, the boat was heading to the Ad Dimaniyat Islands, known for their picturesque snorkeling opportunities, situated around 26 miles from Muscat. The tour had started from the Bandar al Rowdha marina, located at the base of the Al Hajar Mountains.

The incident took place at around 9 a.m., with one tour operator mentioning that the weather conditions suddenly worsened, despite generally rough seas having persisted for several days prior.

Authorities are currently engaged in supporting the survivors and providing assistance to the families of the deceased. Oman, located on the eastern side of the Arabian Peninsula, attracts tourists for its natural landscapes and diving experiences, although it often plays second fiddle as a tourist destination compared to the more prominent Dubai in the nearby United Arab Emirates.
