Eyewitness accounts suggest a group of young individuals were seen fleeing the area shortly before the shooting occurred. One witness reported observing individuals carrying weapons and wearing face coverings near shops on Kingsman Parade.

Residents in the vicinity expressed shock and distress over the event. Some reported hearing the sound of gunfire, while others voiced growing concerns regarding serious youth-related crime in the neighbourhood.

A police cordon has been established around the crime scene, which is situated near Woolwich Ferry and Woolwich Dockyard station, with officers maintaining a presence in the area. Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, heading the investigation, stated that efforts are underway to swiftly determine the full circumstances of the shooting.
