President Bola Tinubu has warmly celebrated the 63rd birthday of the distinguished economist, banker, and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu.
Elumelu, who will turn 63 on March 22, 2026, holds prominent leadership positions as the chairman of Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp, in addition to establishing the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu referred to Elumelu as a significant figure in African business and a vocal proponent of enterprise growth throughout the continent.
The President praised Elumelu’s tenacity, dedication to quality, and firm belief in Africapitalism—an ideology he developed that focuses on fostering private-sector-led economic growth and long-term investments within Africa.
Moreover, Tinubu underscored the success of the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s entrepreneurship program, which has successfully trained over 2.5 million young Africans across 54 nations and financially empowered more than 24,000 entrepreneurs by providing them with $5,000 each in non-refundable seed capital.
He commended Elumelu’s commitment to youth empowerment and his efforts in promoting innovation and economic inclusivity across the continent.
Tinubu expressed his best wishes to the business leader, hoping for his continued health, strength, and success in all future endeavors.
