A tragic incident has resulted in the drowning of two children in a river situated on the fringes of Bauchi metropolis, in Bauchi State. The deceased have been identified as Saminu Mohammed, aged 12, and Tanimu Danladi, aged 11, both residents of Gudum Sayawa. The unfortunate event took place around 4:30 p.m. on February 2, 2026, as the boys were engaged in swimming activities.

Upon receiving the report, police officers were dispatched to the location. They successfully retrieved the bodies of the children and promptly transported them to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi. A medical professional at the hospital confirmed their demise.

Following the confirmation of death, the remains of the two boys were released to their respective families for customary burial rites. Authorities have stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning incident is ongoing.
