In a distressing incident, bandits invaded Gidan Sani village located in the Tsaragi Emirate region of Kwara State on Sunday night, claiming the lives of two residents, among them a woman.
Reports indicate that the assault took place around midnight when the armed intruders targeted a family home. The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, informed Daily Trust that the motive behind the attack was an attempt at kidnapping, and noted that the culprits specifically approached the residence of a miner who was absent at the time.
"They sought out the miner's house but found him missing. In their attempt to abduct the father, his wife intervened but was shot in the process," Commissioner Ojo explained.
He reported that the father suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and their ten-year-old daughter was also injured in the leg. "Unfortunately, the woman succumbed to her injuries, making it a total of two fatalities from this encounter," Ojo added. As the assailants retreated, they shot another man, contributing to the tragic outcome of the night.
