An orphan boy from New Hampshire tragically ended his life just one week following his 13th birthday, unable to cope with the unending bullying he experienced at school.
Josiah Michael Dwinell, aged 13, took the drastic step of jumping from a bridge in Alstead, New Hampshire on March 12, as confirmed by his aunt Shaena Lyon on social media.
His mother, Amber, unexpectedly passed away in 2021, as outlined in her obituary.
Josiah had been living with his grandmother, who made significant efforts to protect him from the bullying he faced, according to Lyon.
It remains unclear whether he was placed in the care of his five siblings.
Lyon reported that Josiah had been hospitalized on multiple occasions, attempting to seek assistance, but was often dismissed by others who claimed he was merely looking for attention.
“He faced bullying not only at school but also on the bus; no one outside of his home came to his aid,” she expressed.
Lyon recounted that after returning from a bus ride, Josiah seemingly resolved that he could not endure the bullying any longer, leading him to jump off a high bridge into a river.
She emphasized that Josiah was not a swimmer.
“He was a wonderful brother, son, nephew, and an exceptional young man who brought joy to everyone around him. Josiah’s absence has created an irreplaceable void in our hearts,” Lyon noted in a GoFundMe for his funeral expenses.
The fundraising effort quickly surpassed its initial goal of $6,500 and was approaching $24,000 by Sunday evening.
In the wake of his passing, many family members altered their social media profile pictures to feature the teal and purple suicide awareness ribbon.
