A tragic incident occurred in Wangara village, within the Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, where a three-year-old boy, Abdura’uf Badamasi, has lost his life after falling into a well.
According to the Kano State Fire Service, a distress call was received around 7:50 AM on Friday, January 30, informing them of the occurrence.
The call was made by Dan Asabe Rabiu, as reported by the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
Following the alert, a rescue team was swiftly dispatched from the agency’s headquarters to the scene.
Upon their arrival, it was revealed that the child had been missing since Thursday evening, and his parents had suspected he might have fallen into a nearby well.
Firefighters entered the well and found the child unconscious. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced deceased.
The body of the boy was handed over to the ward head of Wangara village, adhering to the established protocols for such cases.
The Kano State Fire Service extended their condolences to the grieving family, emphasizing the need for residents to exercise caution around open wells and other potentially dangerous areas, particularly to protect children.
Furthermore, the agency advised that wells should be adequately covered to avert similar incidents in the future.
