Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has commented that he believes Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is still alive but 'damaged.'

Khamenei, whose father, Ali Khamenei, was killed at the onset of a military conflict instigated by the United States and Israel against Iran, has not made a public appearance since being selected by a clerical assembly on Sunday.

His initial official remarks were communicated through a television presenter on Thursday.

In an interview on Fox News' The Brian Kilmeade Show, Trump stated, "I think he probably is (alive). I think he is damaged, but I think he’s probably alive in some form."

Following his ascension to supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei pledged to maintain the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and urged neighboring nations to dismantle US military bases situated within their borders or face consequences from Iran.

The United States and Israel commenced their offensive actions against Iran on February 28, prompting Iran to retaliate with strikes against Israel and Gulf nations hosting US military facilities.

As this conflict nears the two-week mark, resulting in numerous casualties and unsettling global financial markets, the leaders of Iran, Israel, and the United States have all proclaimed their commitment to persist in the confrontations.
