The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared that it will bear the expenses for extended hotel accommodations for tourists stranded in Abu Dhabi as a result of extensive flight disruptions triggered by the military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

This initiative is intended to help alleviate the inconvenience experienced by travelers while airlines and local authorities work to restore normal air travel operations.

On Saturday, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) sent out a notice directing hotels to prolong the stays of guests affected by these travel interruptions.

The notice highlighted that "some guests have reached their check-out date but are unable to travel due to circumstances beyond their control," instructing hotels to "keep them accommodated until they can depart."

This directive clarified that the additional costs would not be borne by either the hotels or the travelers.

According to the letter, "The expense associated with the extended stay will be funded by DCT Abu Dhabi," and hotels have been asked to forward respective invoices to a designated contact person.

This move is being made in light of ongoing adjustments in the aviation sector within the UAE, following the regional turmoil that has disrupted air traffic across the Middle East.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) reported that AED 20,200 passengers have been impacted by the recent changes in flight schedules and noted that necessary support was offered, including temporary accommodations, meals, and assistance with rebooking flights.

These unprecedented disruptions in air travel are occurring amid an increase in hostilities in the Middle East, following U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran and the subsequent retaliatory responses, which have forced many Gulf nations, including the UAE, to partially or fully close their airspace to ensure safety.

Significant airports in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been affected, leading airlines to suspend operations and reroute services due to the heightened security risks.

Authorities have indicated that all necessary coordination between airports, airlines, and government entities is ongoing to monitor flight operations and facilitate an organized return to normal services.

Measures have included rerouting specific flights, hastening rescheduling processes, and enhancing ground coordination at passenger terminals to avoid congestion.

The arrangement for extra accommodation provides reassurance for travelers who unexpectedly find themselves far from home as a result of these events.

The GCAA and DCT Abu Dhabi have advised passengers to utilize official communication channels for the latest updates and to reach out to airlines directly regarding their travel arrangements.

The UAE has reaffirmed its commitment to managing the situation effectively, stating, "The country’s airports and airlines are cooperating closely to ensure smooth procedures and support the safe and orderly resumption of services as soon as conditions allow."
