The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has denounced the recent terrorist attack in Kwara State, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 people.

On Tuesday, a brutal assault was executed by terrorists on the Woro community located in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. This heinous crime not only led to numerous fatalities but also left several others unaccounted for.

In a statement released on Thursday, Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, reiterated the commitment of the United Nations to stand with Nigeria and pledged support for the nation’s endeavors to counter terrorism.

The statement highlighted, "The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the families of those affected and to the Nigerian people and government. He also wishes a swift recovery to those who were injured."

Furthermore, the Secretary-General emphasized the need for ongoing solidarity from the United Nations with Nigeria as it combats terrorism and violent extremism, urging that those responsible for such acts of violence must be brought to justice.
