Nigeria's representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim, has been selected to deliver the main address at the upcoming 10th anniversary conference of the Ife Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS).
Ibrahim's keynote speech is set to be on the topic, “The Nigerian Project Revisited: Crisis, Continuity, and Possibility.”
The conference, bearing the theme “Building Lasting Institutions: Faith, Scholarship, and the African Project,” aims to convene academics and policymakers to discuss the institutional challenges facing Africa and explore avenues for development.
This event is scheduled to take place on June 4th at the John Knowles Paine Concert Hall, located within Harvard University in the United States.
According to Professor Jacob Olupona, who convenes the conference and leads Harvard’s Department of African and African American Studies, the event will investigate why Africa produces remarkable individuals without fostering enduring institutions.
Olupona highlighted that the IIAS has provided training for over 850 scholars in the past decade, with many now actively contributing to academia and public service both within Africa and internationally.
The Ife Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) is an organization based in Nigeria that operates as a non-profit and non-governmental entity dedicated to advancing research for developmental purposes across the African continent.
