Unilever Nigeria, a long-standing manufacturing entity in the country, has once again underscored its dedication to promoting the progress, leadership, and inclusivity of women.

Tobi Adeniyi, the Managing Director of Unilever Nigeria, conveyed this message during the company's observance of the 2026 International Women's Day (IWD) event, which featured a carefully designed experience under the theme “In Her Element.”

The event, held at their Ikeja, Lagos Head Office, was conceptualized to harmonize professional achievement with personal well-being, demonstrating Unilever's philosophy that employees bring their complete selves to work.

This year's celebration transcended the typical observance of the global day, focusing instead on cultivating an environment where every woman in the organization feels recognized, supported, and empowered.

Through a combination of wellness activities, opportunities for personal expression, and insightful discussions, the gathering encouraged attendees to reconnect with their aspirations while celebrating the collective strength of women within Unilever.

To highlight the significance of personal branding, each woman received a professional makeup session, followed by a portrait photography experience with a distinguished photographer, aiming to capture moments of confidence and encourage the embrace of individuality and personal power.

The day also provided relaxation through massage sessions, designed to offer respite amidst demanding schedules, alongside henna artistry and facial screenings to promote self-care and overall wellness.

Adeniyi noted that through initiatives like IWD and Shakti, a Unilever program that empowers underprivileged women in rural areas by enabling them to earn income through sales, the company is reinforcing its dedication to women's advancement, leadership, and inclusion.

He stressed that strategically investing in women not only enhances organizational performance but also yields benefits that extend beyond the workplace, positively impacting families, communities, and the broader economy.

Adenike Ogunlesi, a Non-Executive Director at Unilever Nigeria Plc and the Founder & Chief Responsibility Officer of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, shared personal reflections, urging women to proactively invest in their development. She provided insights on building lasting achievements through consistency, emphasizing that the frameworks women establish around their ambitions are crucial for the robustness and longevity of their accomplishments.
