Vice President Shettima Leads Federal Team to Kaiama Following Deadly Terrorist Incidents

Vice President Kashim Shettima led a federal government delegation to Kaiama, Kwara State, on Saturday to console victims of recent terrorist attacks. President Bola Tinubu has ordered troop deployment and NEMA intervention to restore security.

Vice President Kashim Shettima headed a Federal Government delegation that visited Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara State on Saturday. The purpose of the visit was to express solidarity with those affected by terrorist assaults on the Nuku and Woro communities last Tuesday.

Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu's strong commitment to re-establishing peace and security in the affected areas, assuring residents that comprehensive security measures are being implemented.

He announced that the President has directed the deployment of an Army battalion to Kaiama. Furthermore, President Tinubu has instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in cooperation with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency, to provide support to the affected communities.

"We are here representing President Bola Tinubu to offer our sympathies for the tragedy that impacted the Woro and Nuku communities," Shettima stated, characterizing the victims as peaceful individuals dedicated to their work and interfaith harmony.

He extended the profound condolences of the President and the Federal Government to the families who lost loved ones. The Vice President emphasized that although specific security strategies would not be made public, decisive actions are underway to stabilize the region.

"Please accept our deepest condolences. Every effort is being made to ensure that peace and security are fully restored," the Vice President reassured the community.

Governor Babagana Zulum, who also chairs the North East Governors Forum, shared his condolences from the forum and offered prayers for the victims, encouraging resilience and hope.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq acknowledged the Federal Government's prompt response. He confirmed that security forces and senior officials have already been deployed as part of Operation Savannah Shield.

Both the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, expressed their appreciation to the President and Vice President for the swift intervention and the deployment of security personnel.
