In a recent court session at the Area Court, Centre-Igboro in Ilorin, Kwara State, Mariam Alagbede, a woman from Idiape village, passionately appealed for help to convince her husband, Muhammed Bashir, not to proceed with his intention to divorce her.
Expressing her desire to continue the marriage, Mariam stated, "I don’t want divorce. Please sir, help me beg him to forgive me for any wrong I might have done."
According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), her husband, Muhammed, explained to the court that he had been in the marriage for three years but felt disillusioned due to a perceived lack of love and the absence of his wife's submission in the relationship.
In response to the situation, presiding judge Toyin Aluko advised Mariam to consider reconciliation through familial discussions to resolve the existing misunderstandings between them.
The court subsequently decided to adjourn the case, providing a chance for both parties to reflect and possibly seek resolution.
