Nyesom Wike, serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has given his approval for the confirmation appointments of 1,659 personnel from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who were employed in 2016 and 2019.

This announcement was made by Emeka Ezeh, the Chairperson of the FCT Civil Service Commission, in a statement released by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, during a briefing on Sunday in Abuja.

Ezeh indicated that these confirmed employees were part of the 2,281 candidates who had taken the confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on the 28th of February.

He elaborated that several of the candidates who participated in the confirmation examination had been employed as early as 2016 and 2019. During this examination, out of 2,512 candidates invited, only 2,281 were present.

Ezeh expressed concerns regarding the 224 individuals who were absent, hinting that this may indicate the possibility of ghost workers.

He concluded by reminding those confirmed and other workers to visit the Commission’s official website, www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng, to verify their employment status. Furthermore, he revealed that the Commission has made arrangements to conduct promotions for 2025 and 2026 as approved by the minister, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's promise to instill hope within the FCTA workforce.

"Some of the workers who took the confirmation were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others were hired shortly before Wike took office in August 2023," he added.
