A mother named Mufiat Olateju, who already has five children, has recently given birth to quadruplets at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) located in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Mufiat and her husband, Oluwaseun Olateju, who works as a butcher, are reportedly in a difficult financial situation and have found themselves stranded following the arrival of the unexpected quadruplets.

On Thursday, Mufiat shared with reporters that the birth of the quadruplets came as a shock to the family, as earlier medical scans had not indicated that she was carrying four babies.

She is appealing to the state government and compassionate individuals for help in covering medical expenses and caring for the newborn infants.

“I have had five children before. Initially, when we had a scan, it did not show that I was having quadruplets. Thus, we were not prepared for this,” she said.

She continued, “According to the first scan, we were expecting just one baby, but later scans revealed there were two. I urgently need support from the government and kind-hearted people because I do not know where to start from. At 40 years old, I hope the government can assist us in taking care of these four children.”

Her husband, Oluwaseun, also expressed his need for help, emphasizing the challenges of providing for quadruplets along with their other children without additional support.

“I urge the government to come to our aid because I cannot handle this alone. It's beyond my capability. At one point, I even contemplated leaving, but I have since reconsidered and have hope that things will turn around for us,” he noted.
