An unidentified woman has been accused of abducting three siblings in an Ebonyi community, mere days after she took up residence in the area.

Reports indicate that the disturbing incident happened on Saturday at Nwezenyi Community, within Izzi Local Government Area.

The siblings, identified as Favour, Obinna, and Kamso Okeoha, were reportedly taken while their parents were not at home. A local PREMIUM TIMES reporter discovered that the suspect's apartment was the only one in the compound that had been recently painted.

This apartment bore the inscription 'One Love' on its wall, which seemed intended to create a welcoming image among other tenants.

Residents expressed disbelief over the incident, with one individual recalling how the suspect had moved in one day after renting the apartment. 'She only stayed for one day before the children were abducted on Saturday. We don’t even know her identity,' the resident remarked.

Another neighbor mentioned that the suspect appeared friendly, seemingly trying to foster goodwill with other tenants by adorning her room with positive phrases.

Attempts to reach the children's parents for comments proved unsuccessful during the visit, but many well-wishers were seen gathering in the compound, waiting for their return.

When approached for comments, the spokesperson for the police in Ebonyi State, Joshua Ukandu, affirmed the occurrence of the kidnapping. He stated that authorities are actively pursuing the case to locate the abductor and rescue the children.

This incident is not isolated, as there have been multiple cases of child abduction in Ebonyi recently. Notably, just a month earlier, three children were kidnapped from the same compound, opposite the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate located in Abakaliki Local Government Area. The previous victims—two girls aged four and two, along with a two-year-old boy—were abducted on 7 February of this year.
