Tensions have escalated on social media after nightlife influencer Yhemolee reacted furiously to a review by food critic Opeyemi concerning his wife’s fragrance line.
In a series of passionate posts, Yhemolee accused Opeyemi of being insincere in his admiration for him while making what he deemed belittling comments about the perfume. He found it contradictory that Opeyemi would express affection toward him yet criticize a product that is associated with his family.
Yhemolee emphasized that the perfume line has been thriving despite the negative review, stating that it has sold out twice with over 1,000 units sold. He noted that the fragrance Opeyemi found fault with is currently their top seller.
Moreover, he asserted that the brand's marketing team had previously approached Opeyemi for a review during the launch, but the critic allegedly requested a fee of ₦6 million. Yhemolee suggested that the unfavorable review may have arisen only after the brand began to perform well without Opeyemi's support.
The influencer further remarked that if the feedback had been genuinely constructive, it should have been communicated privately rather than publicly, especially since he was mentioned in the critique. He concluded by stating that this episode has enabled him to better assess the kind of individuals he interacts with online.
