Officers from the Yobe State Police Command have exposed a sophisticated inter-state syndicate involved in motorcycle theft, burglaries, and snatching incidents across Yobe, Gombe, and Bauchi States.
In a statement released on Friday, March 6, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, announced the developments.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of a suspect identified as Lukman Inusa, a 27-year-old resident of Potiskum Local Government Area.
The arrest occurred on March 3, 2026, at approximately 11:00 AM, following a coordinated effort by police operatives.
During initial questioning, the suspect admitted to the crimes and directed investigators to the recovery of five motorcycles, part of a total of ten motorcycles he reportedly stole since commencing his illegal activities, as affirmed by SP Abdulkarim.
According to the Police PRO, the recovered motorcycles are currently in possession of the police, and efforts are underway to ascertain the rightful owners.
"We are also increasing efforts to retrieve the remaining stolen motorcycles and capture other members of this criminal syndicate," he stated.
The police command reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal behavior and emphasized ongoing operations designed to dismantle criminal networks within the state.
