The First Lady of Zamfara State, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has officially launched a 2026 Ramadan food distribution initiative that aims to benefit 50,000 vulnerable individuals throughout the state.
The inauguration event took place in the Shinkafi Local Government Area and signals the start of the distribution process in all 147 wards, as stated by her Press Secretary, Hajiya Rabi Yusuf.
This program is designed to provide continuous humanitarian aid to underprivileged households and alleviate economic strain during the sacred month of Ramadan.
In order to ensure transparency and accountability, committees at the ward level have been set up to oversee the distribution of food items, which she emphasized should reach the proper recipients. She called on the committee members to uphold fairness and integrity in their roles.
The First Lady expressed gratitude toward Governor Dauda Lawal for his backing and reiterated the administration's commitment to improving the living conditions of the less fortunate.
Each food package includes essential items: 20 kilograms of rice, 5 kilograms each of beans, sugar, millet, and maize, along with salt, vegetable oil, spaghetti, and wrappers for women.
